The Featherstone Backpacking tent will give you a better camping experience with its lighter design and more extensive rainfly. Read below for a detailed review of both tents!

Featherstone Backpacking Tent Detailed Review

Coleman Sundome Vs Featherstone Backpacking Tent Runner-Up

The Featherstone backpacking tent offers campers the necessities of lightweight camping, weighing in at just 5 lbs AND at a fairly reasonable price. The tent includes taped seams to offer protection against the weather, keeping rain, wind, and more out of the tent while you sleep. The rainfly is weather-proof with a hydrostatic rating of 3,000mm and covers almost the full exterior of the tent. When compared to the Coleman Sundome, the Featherstone offers more assurance that you’ll be dry during the first storm you encounter!

The tent offers a minimalist setup with only a 1 piece aluminum pole, keeping the number of tents to balance to a minimum! The featherstone is terrific for 3 season camping but will not offer enough insulation for winter camping without other specialized equipment (similar to the Sundome).

Coleman Sundome Vs Moon Lence Camping Tent

The Coleman Sundome offers campers the necessities of shelter at a great, low price. The Coleman Sundome is a 2-4 person tent (recommend 2 for comfort) and takes only 10 minutes to set up with the very typical cross pole design. The Sundome features weathertec throughout the fabric making it able to sustain harsh conditions such as heavy rain, snow, and more. Along with weathertec, there is 11mm shock-corded fiberglass poles that withstand the weather as well.

The tent stands 6 feet tall at the center allowing for most to stand their full height for a nice morning stretch. There is even an e-port that makes it easy to bring electrical power inside of the tent!

At the end of the day, both tents will offer a great camping experience for two and you can’t go wrong with either. Only one tent, however, will make backpacking an ease and make for the better hiking tent which is why the Featherstone backpacking tent is chosen as the best option. While more expensive, it offers proper weatherproofing and ease of setup that backpackers need on the trails. It offers enough room for two as well for a comfortable weekend camping experience.

Check out why we think both of these tents are some of our best two-person tents or take a look at some slightly larger tents using our roundup of tents for a family of three!
