This campground in Freeburg, IL, is the quiet getaway you’ve been looking for. With fishing and swimming options on Freedom Farm Lake and pool tables and darts in the kitchen, you’ll be comfortable and entertained. You’re also able to rent out their hall, bar, and pavilion for events. The farm is open for public use, so expect the campground to empty out as each day ends. For more outdoor excursions, visit Horseshoe Lake State Park, about 20 miles away.

This St. Clair County campground has tent sites located right along the Kaskaskia River and is also associated with a marina and boat slip rental for perfect access. For outdoor adventuring, drive and visit White Rock Nature Preserve, Fults Hill Prairie Nature Preserve, or Randolph County State Recreation Area.

Best St. Clair County Campground for Tourists

If you’ve been searching for camping close to St. Louis but out of the commotion of the city, this is the park for you. Twenty minutes from Belleville and just ten minutes from downtown St. Louis, this park on the eastern Mississippi River bank provides most of the travel accommodation you’d need. The park itself offers a shuttle that runs to St. Louis and goes downtown, to Forest Park, to Cahokia Mounds, and to the stadium for ballgames. For hiking options nearby, try visiting Stemler Cave Woods Preserve, Forest park, or the Mississippi Greenway.
